Each time I’ve moved, finding the right community has been one of the most important aspects for me. It’s why I stayed in Mexico City for as long as I did and why I fell in love with Rome. (Whereas Playa Del Carmen, on the other hand, didn’t do it for me!) I’ve just landed in Italy and am deciding where to base myself next. I want to check out places in both Italy and Spain. My daughter is 2 so there’s much more to consider this time as well 😅💛
Oh such an exciting time! I wrote a post about my recent reccy trip to Valencia, might be useful for you to check out! And I totally agree, community is SO important.
I’m ready to go, emotionally and financially (savings-wise), but I’m trying to sort through visas/ red tape. As someone in her 30s, it’s more complicated than when I was in my 20s and studying abroad. There are less visas available to me, but I also want to set myself up for success. I.e. go somewhere I can make it work long term rather than having to uproot again if my visa ran out.
That's a really good point, it does get trickier as you get older. But there are lots of options for long-term visas out there. They just require some clever manoeuvring, and a bit of funds. Where are your dream destinations?
That’s true! I suppose you could say I’m in the studying up on the cleverest ways to get a visa phase. France, Italy, Portugal— I want to be in the E.U. I’ve lived in France before and loved it. But I also love other countries I’ve spent time in and am open to a few.
When I first did it I was ready to leave everything behind. Now that I have built a better life for myself it's harder to leave things and people behind.

Well that's an exciting phase! Please report back your findings! I'd love to do a post about the various visas, their costs and how to get them.

Yeah I get that, so it's more of the friends and family element?
Yes exactly, that and obligations.
🐒yes I will the same way here I am. Staying here nowhere
Do you have a desire to leave again?
I met somebody
No I sure don’t want to
